St. John the Baptist Catholic School in Savage

St. John the Baptist Catholic School was founded in 1959 as an extension of its church.

Tucked along Broadway Street in Jordan, St. John the Baptist Catholic School won for Best Elementary School in Southwest News Media’s Best of the Best contest. Principal Courtney Bierlein said the school, which teaches children kindergarten through eighth grade, is celebrating turning 150 this year. Throughout the personalized education experience, the environment is faith-filled, she said. The school’s website says there are 96 students enrolled.

“St. John’s is a family,” she said. “We are a community that cares for, supports and lifts up each other. Our staff truly cares and loves each student and seeks to provide a personal educational experience for each learner.”

Its office can be reached at 952-492-2030 or at office@sjsjordan.org.

Finalists were Chanhassen Elementary, Clover Ridge Elementary, Cologne Academy, Guardian Angels Catholic School, St. Boni Education Center, St. John the Baptist Catholic Montessori School, St. John the Baptist Catholic School in Savage St. Michael’s Catholic School and St. Paul’s Lutheran School.
