Chad Lubbers and Janet Karius

Chad Lubbers, former Chanhassen branch manager, with Chaska Library branch manager Janet Karius who recently retired. The library held a going away reception for Karius at the Chaska Library on May 27.

After 25 years of devoted service to Carver County Library, Janet Karius started a new chapter of her life on June 1 — retirement, according to a news release from Heidi Hoks, Carver County Library director.

Her plan is to enjoy her family, especially her many grandchildren.

“Janet came to Carver County Library as the Chaska branch manager and she shook things up with exciting displays and programming,” Hoks said. “She was promoted to the position of assistant director, a capacity in which she served for many years, serving all libraries and library customers in Carver County.”

Later Karius returned to the position of Chaska branch manager. For two years she added Chanhassen interim branch manager to her duties as Chaska branch manager.

The last few years, however, she returned to Chaska full-time, helping the public and encouraging staff to grow, develop and serve the public to their fullest capacity.

“I have loved every day of work. The people who have come into each of our libraries have been wonderful and it has been my honor to serve them,” Karius said.
