Sept. 10, 2018 was proclaimed the official “Chanhassen Red Birds Day” at the Chanhassen City Council meeting on Monday.

The Red Birds team and fans gathered in the council chambers to hear Mayor Denny Laufenburger call the team “The pride of Chanhassen,” and presented the team with its official proclamations.

The Red Birds won the Town Ball Class B State Championship on Sept. 3, defeating the Miesville Mudhens twice — 6-1 and 7-4, for a 33 win, 8 loss season.

The city’s downtown electronic sign displayed a message honoring the Red Birds for 24 hours on Monday and four double-sided State Champ poster boards were placed downtown.

The city is also working on possible “State Champion” signs at highway entrances to Chanhassen in coming weeks, according to Chanhassen Park and Recreation Director Todd Hoffman.
