The Buzz newsletter

Southwest News Media announces the launch of a new entertainment newsletter, delivered weekly on Thursdays.

Southwest News Media has introduced "The Buzz," a weekly newsletter filled with the latest entertainment and arts news from across the southwest metro, published and delivered every Thursday.

Curated by Southwest News Media's editorial team, "The Buzz" aims to provide you with a personalized selection of the week's most interesting and important news on entertainment and the arts, plus restaurant stories and local event listings.

"We know that local entertainment and events are at the core of the communities we serve, just like 'community' is one of the core values at Southwest News Media," Digital Content Coordinator Rachel Minske said. "Our website at swnewsmedia.com is churning out new content around the clock, but this specialized newsletter will deliver local entertainment news straight to your inbox. We want to be as useful and in the moment as we can for our readers and we believe 'The Buzz' helps us achieve that."

Coming off the heels of Southwest News Media's new website launch in May, "The Buzz" aims to deliver news weekly on local concerts, art exhibits, area entertainment destinations and the dining scene.

In May, Southwest News Media, which owns eight community newspapers in the southwest metro area of the Twin Cities, also expanded its community calendar. The news organization partnered with a company called Evvnt to help elevate local events better than ever before. Through the new platform, which you can find at swnewsmedia.com/events, you can submit your events for free to the online events portal.

You’ll still be able to submit information about your event through our website — that much hasn’t changed. But now, once you submit, you’ll see your event appear on our website within seconds. You’ll also receive a simple event report so you can see how your event listing is doing online.

Information can be submitted online by anyone for free. If you’d like to elevate your event even further, you can upgrade to a premium event. Through a partnership with other web-based listing sites, upgrade options are available for a nominal fee which can guarantee placement in our print newspapers in the coming weeks, as well as featured placement on more than 4,000 other event sites throughout the U.S.
