The Carver County Library remains closed until further notice, yet there are still ways to access the library’s resources.

If you already have a library card, you are good to go. If your library card is expiring, we’ve automatically renewed it. If you don’t have a card to access our free online resources, we will accept library card registrations over the phone.

Please call 952-227-7602 to apply for a card. We will give you your library card barcode and pin number over the phone. This will allow you immediate access our digital resources through our website (www.carverlib.org), as well as our eBooks and eAudiobooks through the cloudLibrary, and eAudiobooks and online magazines through RB Digital.

The cloudLibrary provides access to over 200,000 titles of eBooks and eAudiobooks, from how-to titles to bestselling fiction and nonfiction for children, teens, and adults. Check out up to five eBook and/or eAudiobook titles at a time for up to three weeks.

You can also place holds on titles and you can renew them if no one's waiting. One highlight of the Carver County Library’s cloudLibrary collection is the Great Courses series. The Great Courses are uniquely crafted for lifelong learners with engaging, immersive learning experiences you can’t get in a lecture hall. With a wide range of topics from astrophysics to European history, Great Courses meets the needs of the citizens who want to learn from the world’s most knowledgeable professors.

The purchase of Great Courses was made with the support of the Carver County Library Foundation. Great Courses can be found simply by searching “Great Courses” in the cloudLibrary app or on their website. The cloudLibrary works with a huge range of e-Reading devices such as phones and tablets.

Carver County Library’s subscription to RB Digital provides access to thousands of eAudiobooks and over 100 magazine titles.

While RB Digital contains some current bestsellers, the strength of the collection is their backlist titles by popular authors such as Minnesota writers like John Sandford and William Kent Krueger. Check out up to 10 eAudiobook titles at a time for up to three weeks.

RB Digital is also Carver County Library’s platform for access to hundreds of online magazines. These online magazines can be read in your web browser or downloaded via the app. There is no limit to how many you can check out and they may be kept indefinitely. You can check out the most current issue or back issues of popular magazines.

At Carver County Library, some of the most popular magazines include stalwarts such as The New Yorker, Newsweek, National Geographic, Reader’s Digest, and The Economist. Other popular titles include online versions of tabloids such as In Touch, Us, The Star, OK!, and The National Enquirer. There are magazines about health (Prevention) and wealth (Kiplinger's Personal Finance).

Find popular titles like Oprah as well as niche titles about every possible subject matter, simply by filtering your search. RB Digital also works with a huge range of e-Reading devices such as phones and tablets.

Anyone with a valid library card registered in Carver County can check out cloudLibrary and RBDigital material. You can find instructions on accessing and using this digital content on the library’s electronic resource page (www.carverlib.org/services/ebooks).
