The Bountiful Basket Food Shelf of Eastern Carver County serves the communities of Carver, Chanhassen, Chaska and Victoria and is one of an anticipated 130 Minnesota food shelves that will be participating in this year's Open Your Heart July Food Challenge.

The Open Your Heart to the Hungry and Homeless organization is providing a proportional match of the funds raised by the Bountiful Basket during the month of July. In 2018 Minnesota food shelves were able to leverage this grant challenge to raise $1,447,347 and received their portion of the $90,000 Open Heart grant.

The Open Your Heart nonprofit has provided financial and technical support to homeless shelters, food shelves, and domestic violence centers in Minnesota since 1986. It is estimated that 15,000 Minnesota individuals are homeless each night and that 9,000 individuals visit a food shelf each day.

Those that would like to participate in this program for the benefit of the local food shelf can make checks payable to the Bountiful Basket and mail to 1600 Bavaria Road, Chaska, MN, 55318 or make payment online by visiting bountifulbasketfoodshelf.org during the month of July.

The Bountiful Basket is 100% volunteer staffed and serves over 1,000 individuals each month with approximately 25,000 pounds of food.

The number of individuals that are helped in the summer is the same as during the winter months.

Thank you for caring!
