Swanson Car Wash

Darrel Swanson is the owner/operator of Swanson Car Wash in Chaska.

Swanson Car Wash recently added some new features.

On Jan. 15, the car wash, at 2800 Chaska Boulevard, Chaska, added a touch-free automatic wash bay that accepts credit cards.

Owner Darrel Swanson, of Carver, has also been renovating, repairing and updating equipment in six other self-service bays.

Swanson owned a car wash in Chaska beginning in 1981, then a three-bay tin building located off of Fourth Street. (The site has since been redeveloped for Chaska City Hall.)

At first, the car wash business was a side job to Swanson’s concrete and masonry business, which was slow in the winter. “(Wife) Barb thought I needed something to do,” he said.

He opened a car wash at the current site in 1984. He sold it in 2006 and acquired it again in October 2017. He notes that the self-service car washes are growing rarer. “They aren’t building any new ones. It’s getting too expensive,” he said, noting that his wash has 27 sewer and water hook-ups.

The car wash is open 6 a.m.-9 p.m., 365 days a year (if the temperature is above zero).
