I almost did a spit-take when I read your April 13 headline about U.S. Rep. Tom Emmer taking part in the discussion about highway funding ("Emmer, McMillan discuss Highway 5 project funding").
The Republican Emmer, along with most of his party, voted against Biden’s infrastructure bill last year. Not only did he vote against it, after it passed he referred to it as a “socialist wish list” in a tweet.
To glad-hand with the locals and take credit after voting against the bill, and the interest of his constituents, is the worst kind of hypocrisy. It’s too bad we lost Democratic U.S. Rep. Dean Philips to Republican gerrymandering the last time the Republicans were in control of the state Capitol.
