Charlie Dardis was Charlie Dardis May 29 in a Section 2-4A elimination game for Chaska.

Throw strikes. Check. No big innings. Check. Keep team in the game long enough for offense to come around. Check.

A trio of runs, including an RBI single from Logan Van Sant and run-scoring sacrifice fly from Dardis, late in the ball game, allowed Chaska to escape in a 3-0 shutout of Shakopee May 29 at Athletic Park.

With the win, Chaska now travels to Edina, upset by Prior Lake 7-4, in an elimination game at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 31.

A run in already on a passed ball, plating Justin Bach from second base, Dardis helped his own cause in the fifth inning with an outfield fly to score Van Sant for a 2-0 lead.

A double steal from Mac Born and Nathan Rosenberg in the sixth inning led to a third run on a Van Sant single. Van Sant, back recently from a separated shoulder, was 2-for-3 in the game.

Dardis scattered six hits with five strikeouts in the complete-game victory.
