Spencer Lewin and Holy Family Catholic moved to 3-0 in Section 5AA play, a 5-4 walk-off win over Providence Academy on May 29.

Danny Reddan's third hit proved to be the winning one as Holy Family Catholic rallied from a two-run deficit to win 5-4 in walk-off fashion over Providence Academy May 29 at Vollmer Field in Glencoe.

The Fire, the No. 2 seed, are one of two unbeaten teams in the Section 5AA along with Glencoe-Silver Lake, which upset Litchfield 6-2 in the other semifinal.

Holy Family and Glencoe will meet in the Panthers' home park at 7 p.m. on Monday, June. 3. The Fire are assured a top-three finish in Section 5AA.

Getting a run back at 4-3 in the sixth inning, Holy Family finished off the win without an out recorded in the seventh. Reddan, who had three RBIs, drove in Eric Rinzel with the winning run.

Holy Family Catholic, which outhit Providence Academy 7-4, led 2-0 before the Lions put together a four-run fourth inning off Fire starter Caden Pottebaum. The lefty, who beat Providence 5-0 in the regular season, struck out three batters in the no-decision.

Grant Limke recorded the final six outs for the Fire for the win.


Needing two extra innings to decide the rubber match, Nick Forar's looping hit to right field scored Jalen Wight from second base in Southwest Christian's 5-4 win over Norwood Young America May 29 in Litchfield.

The two Minnesota River Conference opponents split a pair of meetings in the regular season.

Southwest Christian rallied from a 2-0 deficit, scoring solo runs in the fourth and fifth innings.

The Central Raiders plated two runs in the top of the eighth, but the Stars countered with two runs themselves on a Lucas Anderson hit to keep the season alive.

Wight and Jack Widdifield led the Stars' attack with three and two hits apiece. Wight went 8 2/3 innings on the mound, a career-high, with seven strikeouts.

Forar recorded the final out for the victory for Southwest Christian (14-6-1).

Will Hoernemann struck out 11 batters for Norwood Young America over six innings in the no decision.

Southwest Christian, now in the final six in Section 5AA, is back in action against Providence Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 30 at Vollmer Field in Glencoe.
