Two Eden Prairie High School seniors received scholarships from the Eden Prairie Chamber of Commerce at a luncheon on May 16.

Johanna Ehmke thanked the Chamber as she accepted the Chamber’s STEM scholarship, telling the group that such scholarships will allow her to focus on her studies rather than worrying about tuition as she studies in Colorado next year. Ehmke plans to be a surgeon.

Shreya Anand is an intern with the Chamber and was instrumental in planning the first high school job fair at EPHS, at which nearly 700 students visited 47 vendors, said Chamber President Pat MulQueeny. He met Anand when she volunteered at Rock the Barn and was so impressed by her creativity and work ethic that he offered her the internship soon after, he said.

Anand was not expecting to receive the $1,500 business and entrepreneur scholarship and thanked the Chamber for the opportunity it has given her.

“It’s not often you see someone who’s willing to put so much faith and responsibility into a high school student,” she said.
