2016 My Book Day

Funds from the Foundation for Eden Prairie Schools helped support the 12th annual My Book Day in 2016, when about 650 first-graders in the Eden Prairie School District got their own hardcover book.

The Foundation for Eden Prairie Schools (FEPS) recently announced the recipients of its 2017 Community Partnership Grant Awards.

Grants have been awarded to the following community organizations:

  • $5,000 to Eden Prairie Noon Rotary for My Book Day: "With the significant support of FEPS, the My Book Day Literacy Program promotes reading skills in every Eden Prairie Schools first-grade classroom, with 100 percent student participation. It's really a legacy program for our first-grade students, ongoing every year since 2005," according to a news release.
  • $2,490 to PROP Food Shelf for school supplies: “This past July, we had a client and her daughter picking up supplies and were overwhelmed with gratitude. The daughter said this, 'I got a backpack that SPARKLES and it came with a matching sparkle pencil bag! My bag with school supplies had everything I needed on my list and I put my name on everything. My supplies are in my backpack and I can’t wait to meet my teacher and see who’s in my class this year,'" a news release said.
  • $2,400 to the Eden Prairie Crime Prevention Fund for the Counter Act Program: "The Counter Act program teaches elementary-aged students the importance of good decision-making as it relates to alcohol and drug abuse, bullying, violence and property crimes. School liaison officers provide instruction in every fifth-grade classroom within the Eden Prairie School District," according to the release.

FEPS welcomes partnerships with other Eden Prairie community-based organizations related to student achievement and engagement. For more information, contact Executive Director Sarah Cheesman at at scheesman@edenpr.org or 952-975-7205.
