Eden Prairie Prairie Mayor Nancy Tyra-Lukens and City Council Members Sherry Butcher and Kathy Nelson were sworn in Tuesday after being re-elected Nov. 4.
Generating more excitement was City Council Member Brad Aho’s appearance. Aho had been in Rochester at the Mayo Clinic battling multiple myeloma and was attending his first City Council meeting since his bone marrow transplant.
He was greeted with a round of applause when he sat down to the table for the work session earlier in the evening.
Aho said it was a happy New Year. He received a new birthday, he said, Dec. 17, transplant day.
“I got my gift,” he said.
“We would like to thank the residents of Eden Prairie, and our friends and family for all their support and prayers. We are so blessed to live here in this loving and supportive community,” said Brad’s wife Bev, via email.
Aho found out that he had cancer on Aug. 12, Primary Election Day, the day that Bev advanced to the general election in her race for Hennepin County District Judge.
“His treatment was a complete success and we are thrilled,” Bev wrote.
