A Lyft driver from Coon Rapids has claimed the $1 million Mega Millions prize thanks to a ticket he bought at an Eden Prairie gas station.

Kodjo Ayewonou had the only winning ticket for the June 4 drawing, a June 7 news release from the Minnesota Lottery said. He claimed his winnings at Minnesota Lottery headquarters on June 6.

Ayewonou, an immigrant from Togo, West Africa, said he plans to “Buy a Jeep” with his winnings, as well as use some of the money to advance the mission of his nonprofit.

The Ebenezer Charity Foundation, based in Coon Rapids, provides sustainable access to clean water for people living in Africa. Ayewonou has been “working and praying for more money” to help his nonprofit’s cause, the release said.

Ayewonou bought the winning Mega Millions ticket at Shady Oak BP, 11190 W. 62nd St., in Eden Prairie. Since the BP sold the winning ticket, it got a $5,000 bonus.
