Community members can help name one of the newest residents of the Staring Lake Outdoor Center in Eden Prairie.
The Outdoor Center acquired a young male barred owl in December that had suffered a right wrist injury that doesn't allow him to be released back into the wild. The owl will appear at different city events including the Raptor camp in the summer.
The city asked for the public's help in naming the owl in early February. "Nearly 200 members of the community suggested dozens of fantastic names for the young Barred Owl now living at the Outdoor Center – thank you," according to a news release.
Staff narrowed the possibilities to three names -- Whisper, Sage and Star. Residents can vote for one of the names at https://apps.facebook.com/my-polls/form/name-the-outdoor-center-owl through the end of February.
