Caribou Coffee is planning to debut a prototype drive-in store in Jordan this fall, after the city council granted a conditional use permit for the development of the store at 225 Triangle Lane.
The store will prioritize drive-thru and walk-up service, with no indoor seating, according to City Planner Lucinda Meyers.
Developer Lonnie Provencher, a partner at Interstate Development in Eden Prairie, said the firm will purchase the property from owner Todd Becker and remodel the building located next to Jordan Wine and Spirits. The vacant building previously housed a Domino’s and Dairy Queen.
Once permitting is cleared, Provencher hopes to start construction in July and have the business up and running in October.
Plans for the drive-thru show two ordering stations followed by payment and service windows. A pedestrian service window will be located on the south side of the building. Outdoor seating will be available along the front facade, consisting of four tables and 16 chairs. The drive-thru entrance will be along the east side of the building.
In addition to the permit, the city council granted the developer and property owner variances to reduce the number of parking stalls and allow a parking stall and outdoors seating to encroach on the setback area.
