I'm grateful that our local paper makes the effort to include coverage of things like the Trump banner at the Jordan high school game, which led to wider discussion far beyond that gymnasium.
I was heartened to read the ensuing commentary in the insightful piece by Adnan Ahmed, who explained what negative messages are conveyed in shorthand to some by Trump hats. And the positive chords struck by council member Mike Franklin's piece were like a balm for our wounds and an inspiration to celebrate our better angels.
No matter what visceral reactions we have to these issues (and they evoke as many things as peering at ink blot images) I appreciate having a community forum to discuss them here. The Jordan Independent arrives at my home each Thursday and I am glad to see the often hefty content served up with the purely local coverage. It's a worthy read.
