Letter to the editor (notebook)

In my long career with the Scott County Sheriffs’ Office, including retiring after 13 years of being the chief deputy sheriff, I have had the privilege and honor to associate with some very professional and dedicated law enforcement officers from many different agencies.

With all the officers I have met and worked with there are some who just stand out, and one who really comes to the top of the list is Luke Hennen. Starting as a corrections officer, Luke worked his way up, becoming a licensed, sworn deputy sheriff. Luke’s performance as a patrolman earned him an appointment to detective. Again Luke performed his duties at the highest level and earned a promotion to sergeant. As a sergeant Luke honed his supervisory skills and excelled at that position. When the opening occurred for chief deputy sheriff, Luke was appointed to that position.

Luke on his own time has earned a master’s degree in public administration and with his education and experience he understands the budget process, the allocation of resources and the way to get the best bang for the buck.

Luke Hennen is part of the Scott County community. He was born here, raised here, attended school here, goes to church here, lives with his family here, his extended family is here, he chose a service profession here and beside that, if you have met him you know he is a very good human being. I strongly support Luke Hennen to be the next elected sheriff of Scott County.
