The St. Benedict Saints offense finally exploded last Wednesday night in Veseli.
The club scored 21 runs on 19 hits in a convincing 21-10 victory. It was the team’s second straight victory rising four slots in the Dakota-Rice-Scott league standings.
Ryan Gale had five hits. Mitchell Martin and Zach Bakko had three hits each for the Saints. Jon Huss and Jeremy Heitkamp each reached base four times via walk or hit-by-pitch. Ten different players had hits for the St. Benedict.
The Saints also received excellent pitching from the bullpen after a shaky start. Cole Minnick entered the game in the second inning and put up scoreless frames until the sixth inning. He struck out four. Matthias Duevel took over from there mowing through the Warriors lineup for a three-inning save. He also struck out four batters.
St. Benedict improved to 4-7 with three home games this week. They play Wednesday, June 19th at 6:15 p.m. versus St. Patrick. St. Benedict hosts Montgomery on Saturday, before Veseli tries for revenge on Sunday. Both those games begin at 2 p.m.
