Jordan Activities Director Joe Perkl has named Ozzie Sand as Jordan’s interim varsity head football coach, pending school board approval.

Sand will be the interim head coach for the 2019 season.

“We are excited for Ozzie to step into this role and lead the Hubmen this upcoming season,” Perkl said. “Coach Sand has a lot of love coming from our players and coaches and we want to continue that momentum the guys in the football room have created over the past couple of years.”

Sand takes over for Bo Wasurick, who resigned as Jordan’s football coach last week after three seasons with the Hubmen to become the head coach at Anoka High School.

In his three years at Jordan, Wasurick compiled a 24-11 record and went to the Class 3A state semifinals in 2017 and the state quarterfinals in 2018. In 2016, he guided the Hubmen to the section championship game.

Coach Sand has been on the football staff for the past five years and is also the girls head golf coach for Jordan, where they just finished in a school best fourth place at the Class 2A state tournament last week.
