Nordstrom, Inc. has announced Stephanie Johnson as manager of its new store at Ridgedale in Minnetonka. Scheduled to open Friday, Oct. 2, at 10 a.m., the new store will feature a mix of apparel, shoes and accessories for women, men and children. Ridgedale joins Mall of America as the second Nordstrom store in Minnesota, which is also home to three Nordstrom Rack stores at Mall of America in Bloomington, The Shoppes at Knollwood in St. Louis Park and the Shoppes at Arbor Lakes in Maple Grove.
Johnson’s first priority is putting the right team in place to support the new store. Nordstrom plans to hire about 370 local employees ahead of the opening for sales and support roles. Sales positions are available in all areas of operations, including women’s, men’s and children’s apparel, shoes, accessories and cosmetics. Hiring will also take place for various support positions in concierge, alterations, building services, housekeeping, loss prevention and in jobs specific to the store’s restaurant and coffee bar. Nordstrom offers employees a benefits package that includes medical, vision and dental coverage, a merchandise discount, an employer-matched 401(k) plan and much more. Positions will be posted June 22. Interested applicants can find more information at careers.nordstrom.com.
Johnson is a Minnesota native, and her Nordstrom career began on the sales floor at the Mall of America store in 1993. During her 20-plus year career, she has held numerous management and regional positions within the Women’s Apparel division, becoming store manager at the Mall of America Rack in 2000, and then the Arbor Lakes Rack in 2009. In 2013, Johnson was promoted to Rack District Manager where she served most recently. In her newest role as store manager at Ridgedale, Johnson will be responsible for overseeing all operations of the 140,000-square-foot store.
“Stephanie has always been a tremendous teacher and has a track record of bringing out the best in her teams,” said Brent Harris, Nordstrom vice president and Midwest regional manager. “She has brought a terrific amount of leadership to every role she has held and we couldn’t think of anyone better to open our new store in Minnetonka.”
Johnson currently lives in Eagan with her husband. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her 13 nieces and nephews, walking the lakes, cheering on the Twins and travelling throughout the U.S. and abroad. Her adventures have taken her to 10 foreign countries, including Tanzania, Kenya, Italy and the Netherlands.
“I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know customers in the Twin Cities over the past 20 years, and am delighted to continue serving them when we open our doors at Ridgedale this fall,” said Johnson. “We’re thrilled to bring our Minnetonka customers a wide selection of merchandise and the convenience of a location that’s a little closer to home.”
