Concert in the Commons

WAYZATA — Grab your picnic blanket and bug spray — it's time to take in some music at one of Lake Minnetonka's many parks. Here is a list of some of the concert series events going on this summer.

Wayzata Music in the Park

The Wayzata Parks and Trails Board is hosting Music in the Park on Sundays throughout the month of June. The free events will be held from 4:30-5:30 p.m. at the Great Lawn, 851 Lake St. E. The schedule is as follows:

  • June 9: Ditchweed from Power Balladz (1980s sing-along)
  • June 16: Blue Groove Bluegrass Band (Bluegrass)
  • June 23: Wailing Loons (folk rock)
  • June 30: Mark Bendickson (blues and rock)

Wayzata Music by the Lake

The Rotary Club of Wayzata will host the concert series at the Wayzata Depot Park from 7-8:30 p.m. on Wednesdays in June and July. The schedule is as follows:

  • June 19: The Tuxedo Band
  • June 26: The Revolution 5
  • July 10: Benny Weinbeck Trio
  • July 17: Anthony Shore (Elvis)
  • July 24: Jeff Dayton & Friends
  • July 31: The High 48’s

Plymouth Entertainment in the Parks

The following events will be held at the Hilde Performance Center, 3500 Plymouth Blvd.:

  • 7 p.m. Thursday, June 13: Plymouth Sings and Six Appeal
  • 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 26: Alpha Bits Band (following the Happy Birthday America Parade at 10 a.m.)
  • 7 p.m. Thursday, June 27: Plymouth Concert Band
  • 7 p.m. Thursday, July 11: Carolyne Naomi
  • 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 18: Jolly Pops
  • 7 p.m. Thursday, July 25: Salsa Del Soul
  • 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8: Kid Country, Hilde Performance Center (food available for purchase at 6 p.m., the move “The Proposal” will be played at 9 p.m.)

Excelsior Concerts in the Commons

The free concert series is hosted by the Excelsior Morning Rotary Club and the city of Excelsior on Wednesday nights in the Commons. The schedule is as follows:

  • 5 p.m. on June 5: Chris Hawkey (concert will be held near the Commons, at the intersection of Lake and Water streets, due to wet conditions in the Commons.)
  • June 19: Pandora’s Other Box
  • July 17: The 70's Magic Sunshine Band
  • July 31: ​Church of Cash
  • Aug. 14: ​Daisy Dillman Band
  • Aug. 28: Chase & Ovation
  • Sept. 11: Lamont Cranston

Minnetonka Music in the Park

Music in the Park is held from 7-8:30 p.m. (unless otherwise noted) on Tuesdays throughout the summer at the civic center campus at 14600 Minnetonka Blvd.

  • June 18: Geoff Elvee Quintet (5-piece country group)
  • June 25: Eden Prairie Community Band (50-piece concert band)
  • July 9: City of Lakes Community Band (60-piece concert band)
  • July 16: Salsa del Soul (9-piece salsa band)
  • July 23: Jazz on the Prairie (19-piece big band)
  • July 30: The Backyard Band (5-piece light, danceable rock band)
  • Aug. 6*: Hornucopia (A tribute to the horns of rock & roll; 5-piece band)
  • Aug. 13*: Southside Big Band (18-piece swing band)
  • Aug. 20*: Jack Brass Band (9-piece New Orleans-style band)
  • Aug. 27*: Dirty Shorts Brass Band (8-piece New Orleans-style band)

*Concert time is 6:30-8 p.m. due to earlier sunsets.
