Crowds filled downtown Excelsior Thursday for the city’s annual Fourth of July celebration.

Beginning with Firecracker Runs of one mile, a 5K and a 10K, food trucks and a Ferris wheel welcomed residents and visitors to The Commons along Lake Minnetonka.

A kids parade also marched down Water Street in downtown Excelsior in the morning.

The evening concluded with fireworks that were shot off from a barge on Lake Minnetonka’s Excelsior Bay.

Excelsior’s Fourth of July firework show has been going on for 137 consecutive years — this year, $80,000 was invested in the event.
