Minnetonka rotary awards 2018

Minnetonka Rotary held award ceremonies for Minnetonka High School students on May 16 and Hopkins High School students on May 30.70 presentations happened in Minnetonka and 33 happened in Hopkins.

At the Minnetonka ceremony, Karen Hoppe, of the Minnetonka Rotary awarded a $1,000 scholarship to Soraya Weise of Minnetonka. Soraya plans to attend Cedarville University in Ohio to study music education. She has been involved in Building Responsible Youth by helping guide younger students at school. She has also been involved with her church and mission trips.

At the Hopkins High School ceremony, $1,000 scholarship were awarded to Emma Carlson of Hopkins. Emma has chosen to go to Bethel University to study elementary education.

The Minnetonka Rotary Foundation on Monday, June 4, sponsored the graduation ceremony of GED graduates of Hopkins High School. This program supports the communities of Hopkins, Minnetonka and St Louis Park for young people who did not graduate in a traditional high school setting and returned to get an equivalency high school diploma. Thirty-five students graduated this year.
