It looks like the winners of the sheriff’s race in Hennepin County are Rich Stanek and Dave Hutchinson.
They were the top-two vote-getters in the primary election on Tuesday. A third candidate, Joseph Banks, does not advance. Banks is a former police chief of the Upper Sioux Police Department who is a bail bondsman.
Stanek garnered 49 percent of the vote, while Hutch had 35.
Stanek is seeking a third term in office, first elected in 2006. He is a former Minneapolis police officer and a former state legislator from Maple Grove.
Hutchinson, who appeared on the ballot as Hutch, is a sergeant with Metro Transit Police, with 15 years of experience.
