MINNETONKA — A 68-year-old Minnetonka man was killed in a crash at a Minnetonka intersection last week.

Darwin Schmitt was driving a KIA when he got in a crash with a privately-owned commercial dump truck at the intersection of Shady Oak Road and K-Tel Drive just after 10:40 a.m. on Thursday, June 20, according to a city of Minnetonka news release.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner identified Schmitt as the driver of the vehicle, saying he died from “multiple blunt force injuries” suffered when his vehicle “was struck by a dump truck.”

The medical examiner ruled Schmitt’s death as an accident.

The Minnetonka Police Department and the Minnesota State Patrol are investigating the crash, the release says.
