Alumni from Lake Minnetonka-area high schools were busy this spring, making an impact for their college teams around the country. While not a complete list of area alumni competing in collegiate athletics this spring, here are some notable performances.
Andy Andresen was a freshman outfielder for the Southwest Minnesota State University baseball team. Andresen played in 21 games, made eight starts and hit .400 with 14 hits in 35 at bats.
Elisabeth Dalki was a sophomore pole vaulter for the College of St. Benedict women’s track and field team. Dalki placed fourth in the pole vault at the MIAC Indoor Championships and eighth at the MIAC Outdoor Championships.
Gabby Evans was a freshman pole vaulter for the Carleton College women’s track and field team. Evans placed 12th in the pole vault competition at the MIAC Outdoor Championships this spring.
Ryan Helgeson was a senior pitcher for the Augustana University baseball team. Helgeson made 23 relief appearances for the Vikings, posted a 2-0 record with a 2.61 earned run average. In 31 innings pitched, he recorded three saves and 36 strikeouts.
Erin Kolbow was a junior on the College of St. Benedict women’s tennis team. Kolbow went 11-5 in doubles matches and 6-9 in singles matches for the Blazers this spring.
Jack Kuzma was a junior infielder for the Cal Poly State University baseball team. Kuzma appeared in 31 games and made 23 starts for the Mustangs this spring. He hit .253 with 19 hits, including three doubles and six RBIs.
Ben Livorsi was a sophomore catcher for the St. Louis University baseball team. Livorsi played in 49 games and made 43 starts for the Billikens. Livorsi collected 35 hits, scored 34 runs, had four doubles, seven home runs and 31 RBIs.
Ryan Masui was a senior infielder for the Augsburg University baseball team. Masui appeared in 22 games for the Auggies and recorded eight hits and seven RBIs.
Jordan Melz was a sophomore infielder for the St. Olaf College softball team. Melz appeared in all 40 games for the Oles and finished the season fourth on the team in batting average at .284. Melz recorded 29 hits, 15 runs scored, two doubles and 10 RBIs this season.
Matthew Muller was a sophomore infielder for the St. Olaf College baseball team. Muller posted a team-leading on-base percentage of .527, a batting average of .386, eight extra base hits, 22 RBIs and 10 stolen bases.
McKenzie Paap was a senior outfielder for the Minnesota State-Mankato softball team. Paap started all 56 games for the Mavericks and led the team in hitting with 68 hits and a .364 batting average. Paap scored a team-high 44 runs, recorded 16 RBIs and a team-high 42 stolen bases on 49 attempts. Paap finished her career with 232 games played, 328 hits, 211 runs scored, 95 RBIs, 128 stolen bases and a career batting average of .405. Paap is now the all-time leader in school history in hits, runs scored and stolen bases.
Sarah Peka was a junior infielder for the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire softball team. Peka appeared in 25 games for the Blugolds, recorded 12 hits and seven RBIs.
Jimmy Ramsey was a sophomore pitcher for the University of Kentucky baseball team. Ramsey made 18 appearances and 11 starts on the mound for the Wildcats this spring. He threw a total of 57 innings, recorded four wins and 68 strikeouts.
TJ Rogers was a sophomore outfielder for the St. Olaf College baseball team. Rogers was third on the team in batting with a .342 average this spring. He recorded six doubles, two home runs, 16 RBIs and a team-leading 26 stolen bases.
Sterling Sibley was a junior on the University of St. Thomas men’s tennis team. Sibley played No. 2 and No. 3 singles for the Tommies and No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. Sibley recorded four victories in singles play and five victories in doubles play this spring.
Elliot Syverson was a junior pitcher for the St. Olaf College baseball team. Syverson made 12 relief appearances and threw a total of 23 innings. He recorded a team-high five saves and tallied 19 strikeouts.
Joel Thimsen was a sophomore third baseman for the University of Wisconsin-Stout baseball team. Thimsen played in 30 games, made 28 starts and hit .340 with eight doubles and 15 RBIs.
Sam Thoresen is a sophomore pitcher for the University of Minnesota baseball team. Thoresen has thrown 43 1/3 innings for the Gophers while posting a 4-3 record, a 5.19 earned run average and 63 strikeouts.
Jarod Wandersee was a freshman infielder for the Concordia University, St. Paul baseball team. Wandersee appeared in 30 games, made 23 starts and hit .250 with 16 hits, one home run and six RBIs.
Katie Wegrecki was a freshman on the Lake Forest College women’s tennis team this spring. Wegrecki compiled a 21-4 singles record, including a 14-2 mark at No. 6 singles where she played most of the season. Wegrecki’s efforts helped the Foresters earn their first-ever berth in the Division III NCAA Tournament.
Matt Wilkinson was a sophomore distance runner on the Carleton College men’s track and field team. Wilkinson placed sixth and received All-America honors in the 5,000 meters at the NCAA Indoor Championships in March. More recently, Wilkinson placed first in the 3,000 meter Steeplechase and second in the 1,500 meters at the MIAC Outdoor Championships.
Aaron Wukmir was a freshman pitcher for the University of Minnesota-Duluth baseball team. Wukmir made 10 appearances including three starts on the mound for the Bulldogs this spring. Wukmir threw a total of 19 innings and recorded 13 strikeouts.
Clayton Bodine was a senior infielder for the Augsburg University baseball team. Bodine started 34 games for the Auggies and led the team in hitting with 36 hits and a .305 batting average. Bodine also led the team with 10 extra-base hits and 17 RBIs. He finished his career with 111 starts and 121 hits.
Matthew Bohlke was a sophomore pitcher for the Bethel University baseball team. Bohlke made seven appearances and posted a 2-0 record for the Royals this spring. He threw a total of 13 1/3 innings, posted an earned run average of 4.73 and recorded 15 strikeouts.
Michael Bohlke was a senior pitcher for the Bethel University baseball team. Bohlke threw 42 and 2/3 innings and made seven starts on the mound for the Royals. He posted a 3.80 earned run average, a 2-4 record and 31 strikeouts.
Danny Deis was a sophomore outfielder for the University of Wisconsin-Stout baseball team. Deis played in 23 games, made 19 starts and hit .262 with 17 hits and 15 RBIs.
Peyton Gallagher was a sophomore pitcher for the Bethel University baseball team. Gallagher made five appearances and three starts for the Royals. He threw a total of 20 innings, posted an earned run average of 3.60 and tallied 14 strikeouts.
Bobby Isbell was a sophomore infielder for the St. Olaf College baseball team. Isbell appeared in 13 games and recorded six hits and three RBIs.
Thomas Lerdall was a senior distance runner for the St. Olaf College men’s track and field team. Lerdall placed fourth at the MIAC Outdoor Championships in the 10,000 meter race with a time of 31:49.29.
Jake Marsh was a junior pitcher for the Bethel University baseball team. Marsh made 13 appearances and six starts while throwing 42 1/3 innings. Marsh posted a record of 3-4, an earned run average of 4.68 and 27 strikeouts.
Max Martin was a senior sprinter and hurdler for the St. John’s University men’s track and field team. Martin was part of the Johnnies’ 4x200 meter relay team that won the MIAC Indoor Championship with a new school record tie of 1:29.06. Martin also took second at the Indoor Championships in the 60-meter hurdles. At the MIAC Outdoor Championships, Martin placed second in the 110-meter hurdles (14.96) and fourth in the 400-meter hurdles (54.91).
Griffin Schneider was a junior outfielder for the Wagner College baseball team. Schneider played in 40 games, made 38 starts and hit .272 with six doubles, two home runs and 25 RBIs.
Andrew Stanek was a sophomore on the University of Minnesota-Morris men’s track and field team. At the UMAC Outdoor Championships, Stanek placed fourth in the 800 meters (2:01.08), fifth in the 400 meters (51.75), and ran the opening leg of the Cougars’ 4x800 meter relay team, which won the conference championship.
Sam Westermeyer was a freshman pitcher for the St. Olaf College baseball team. Westermeyer made 11 appearances, including six starts on the mound and threw a total of 47 1/3 innings. He posted a record of 6-3, an earned run average of 3.61 and recorded a team-high 38 strikeouts.
Grace Leslie was a sophomore distance runner for the Carleton College women’s track and field team. Leslie placed seventh in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the MIAC Outdoor Championships.
Billy Lynch was a freshman infielder for the Concordia College-Moorhead baseball team. Lynch appeared in 10 games for the Cobbers and hit .316 with six RBIs.
Conner Olsen was a freshman on the University of Arizona men’s tennis team. Olsen went 6-5 overall in singles play and won his only spring match of the season against UC-Riverside.
Madysson Schliinz was a sophomore infielder for the Southwest Minnesota State University softball team. Schliinz started 45 games for the Mustangs, and recorded 18 hits and seven RBIs this spring.
Javarn Hillman was a freshman sprinter on the University of Minnesota-Duluth men’s track and field team. Hillman placed 17th in the 200 meters (22.44) and 20th in the 100 meters (11.11) at the NSIC Outdoor Championships.
