Katelyn “Katie” Michelle Brewer, of Shakopee, died peacefully in her home on Sunday, June 2, 2019.
Katelyn was born July 9, 1984 in St. Charles, IL, and moved to Minnesota with her family in 1989. She graduated from Prior Lake High School in 2002, and earned her Dental Assistant’s degree, with honors, from Herzing University in 2009. She was a licensed and certified dental assistant in Minnesota. She married Peter Brewer on June 24, 2005.
Katelyn had a vibrant and compassionate personality. She was always there to listen to and help her friends, and her joy for life and sense of humor left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Katelyn was spontaneous and creative, and enjoyed making arts and crafts so much that she created a studio in her house where she could create art and share it with others. In addition to her artistic talents, she had a knack for interior decorating and design. Hummingbirds were one of her favorite things, and she adorned her office with beautiful glass sculptures of them. Katie loved her husband Peter and her two daughters, and took any opportunity to travel with them.
Katie will be missed by her husband, Peter; daughters, Lindsey (14) and Chanta (12); parents, Matt and Judy Workman; sister, Natalie (Ben) Petersburg; mother-in-law, Angela Brewer; grandmother-in-law, Mary Carol Majerus; brothers/sisters-in-law, Tony (Sharie) Brewer, Jenny Brewer, Nick (Maria) Brewer, Katie Brewer, Zeke Brewer, Lizz (Chevy Miller) Brewer; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her father-in-law, Joseph Brewer; grandparents, Richard and Ila Eye, Richard Majerus, Marvin and Elaine Workman, Walter and Lois Brewer; niece, Miakoda Brewer; uncles, Tim Workman and Roger Eye.
A wake will occur at the Tiowakan Spiritual Center of the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community, 14625 Prairie Grass Drive NW, Prior Lake, until the funeral service on Thursday, June 6 at 10 a.m. Serving as pallbearers are Peter Brewer, Matt Workman, Ben Petersburg, Chevy Miller, Antoine Archambault, Zeke Brewer and Jesse Sullivan. Officiating is Janice Bad Moccasin. Final prayer said by Leonard Wabasha. Drum group is Iron Boy. Interment Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community Cemetery, Prior Lake.
