Laurie Ann (Roufs) Kahler, age 58, of Chaska, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 14, 2019, at her home.

A Celebration of Life gathering will be held Wednesday, June 19, 5 to 8 p.m., at the Bertas Funeral Home, 200 West Third Street, Chaska. The inurnment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.

Laurie was born October 9, 1960 in Shakopee, to Raymond and Marlene (Siegle) Roufs, one of four children. On March 31, 1984, Laurie united in marriage to Michael Kahler at St. Hubert’s Catholic Church, Chanhassen. They were blessed with two daughters, Kristin and Amanda. She was employed at State Fund Mutual in Bloomington, for 25 years as a Senior Administrative Assistant.

Laurie was a gifted cook and baker who loved to try new recipes. Anyone sitting at her table was fortunate to indulge in her delicious creations. This paired well with her talent for hosting gatherings. Whether it be a holiday, birthday party, or card group no detail was spared and guests were sure to enjoy themselves in a warm atmosphere. Laurie loved the quote “let no one come to you without leaving better and happier” and this was evident in her hospitality of others.

Laurie’s hobbies included playing pickle ball, golfing, biking, hiking, or spending summer days out on the deck or by the lake. She also was an avid reader and enjoyed trying different craft beers – her favorites were stouts and porters. She especially loved spending time with her family and close friends. She planned regular outings to Twins games, yearly trips to the State Fair, and family dinners. Her infectious laugh and warm presence will be deeply missed.

Laurie was preceded in death by her father, Raymond and brother, John.

Survivors include her loving husband, Michael; daughters, Kristin (Patrick) Martin of Chaska, Amanda (Tom) Martin of Shiocton, WI; three grandchildren: Jackson, Kayla and Emery; mother, Marlene (Elmer Dockendorf) Roufs of Eden Prairie; brother, Stephen Roufs of Eden Prairie; sister, Cheryl (Rick) Muellner of Woodbury; other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that you make a donation to a charity of your choice in Laurie’s name. The family would like to extend a gracious thank you to Allina Home Infusion and Allina Hospice. A special thank you to Heather and Mary Beth for their compassionate care.

Funeral arrangements were with the Bertas Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Chaska.
