Joyce Carlson came into this world on October 25, 1936, and Loren followed 13 days later on November 7, 1936. They met at a high school dance and have been together ever since. After full, complete and joyful lives, both passed away peacefully at age 82 only days apart at NC Little Hospice in Edina after almost 62 years of marriage. Joyce passed away on June 1 and Loren on June 4, 2019.
Loren grew up in Watertown, MN and served in the United States Army. He was a tool and die maker and owned his own business. Joyce grew up in Waconia and was a homemaker, decorated beautiful cakes and later worked at Rosemount Aerospace. They moved the family to Shakopee in 1973 where
Loren established Diemold Tool.
Their greatest pride and joy was supporting their children and grandchildren in all of their activities and endeavors. Loren and Joyce were wonderful friends and devoted parents and grandparents who were always actively involved in their families’ lives.
Loren and Joyce will be greatly missed by their children, Kristi (Jay Quam) Carlson and Jonathan (Becci) Carlson; grandchildren, Annika and Erik Quam, Nathaniel (Alexandra), Zack and Noah Carlson; great-grandson, Theodore; Loren’s siblings, Deloris McPadden, LaVonne Brown, Robert (Dorothy) Carlson, Dean Carlson; Joyce’s sister, Gwen Dalchow and her sisters-in-law, Gladys Clasen, Roma Clasen and Judy Clasen; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
They are preceded in death by their parents, Robert and Ellen Carlson and Walter and Christine Clasen; Loren’s siblings, Deanna, Lorraine (Gerald) Strassburg, Jolene (Paul) Akins and brothers-in-law, Jim McPadden and Bud Brown; Joyce’s brothers, Virgil, Earl and Joel Clasen and brother-in-law, Milfred Dalchow.
The family thanks St. Francis Hospital in Shakopee and NC Little Hospice in Edina for their exceptional care and compassion.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 9 from 3 to 6 p.m. at McNearney-Schmidt Funeral and Cremation, 1220 3rd Ave. E., Shakopee, 952-445-2755. Visitation will also be Monday, June 10 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 513 Madison St. SE, Watertown, followed by a Celebration of Life at 11 AM. Interment Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Watertown.
