Several area students received scholarships for higher education in recent weeks, according to Prior Lake-Savage Area Schools and other organizations.
Prior Lake High School graduate Rachel Aruldas received the Gold Scholar Award at the University of Minnesota for $10,000 per year for four years. She'll also receive $1,000 each of those four years from the National Merit Scholarship Program.
Aruldas plans to study biochemistry at the university starting this fall.
Kyla Knutson of the same high school received the Emerson National Scholarship of $2,500 for each of four years. The scholarship each year goes to select children of Emerson employees.
Knutson plans to attend University of Iowa and study neuroscience, according to Emerson.
Finally, Michael Heile of Prior Lake won a $1,000 Minnesota Grocers Association Foundation Scholarship. He plans to use the scholarship to attend Iowa State University, according to the association.
