The Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community and Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity are partnering together to build new affordable housing in Prior Lake.
A $10,000 donation from the Little Six Casino along with a $150,000 donation from the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community will help fund construction costs for a 12-home development in Prior Lake. The project consists of three buildings with four units each. The homes are expected to be completed in 2024.
The homes will be made available to low- and moderate-income homebuyers, especially those who already live in the southwest metro area. Buyers earning $40,000 to $89,000 or more have qualified to buy homes with Habitat.
Homebuyers who partner with Habitat are eligible for a 30-year mortgage with monthly payments set at 30% of homebuyer income, no down payment required, with closing costs and affordability assistance available.
Prospective homebuyers can find out if they qualify for Habitat’s Homeownership Program at BuyWithHabitat.org.
Habitat anticipates a great need for volunteers to join the construction site starting in early 2022. If you are interested in getting involved in supporting this build through volunteerism, reach out to Shelby.Schmidt@tchabitat.org.
