Going for the gold

Teammates Jane Schroeder of Northfield and Carol Lindow of Prior Lake show off their gold medals from the National Senior Games in Minneapolis.

Carol Lindow, 62, of Prior Lake, took the National Senior Games in Minneapolis by storm July 3-16, winning two gold medals and one silver medal in competition.

Along with her partners, Lindow, who taught physical education and health at Prior Lake High School for 33 years, won gold in women’s doubles in both tennis and pickleball, besting 18 other tennis teams and 33 pickleball teams in the process. She also picked up a silver medal in the mixed doubles pickleball competition, where 50 teams participated.

The National Senior Games is an Olympic-style event that welcomes athletes over the age of 50 from all over the country to compete in 19 different sports. This year, more than 10,000 competitors participated.
