Turn Hunger into Hope

Gov. Mark Dayton and Sanya Pirani of Prior Lake meet at her recent food packing event for Feed My Starving Children.

Sanya Pirani of Prior Lake, local third-grade philanthropist, hosted a food packing event at the Eagan Feed My Starving Children facility on Aug. 8 for her “Turn Hunger into Hope with Your Own Two Hands” campaign. Attendees included friends, family and special guest Gov. Mark Dayton, who helped out and recognized Sanya for her work.

By the end of the session, 97 people had packed 108 boxes, which made 23,328 meals at a cost of $5,132. These will feed 64 children a hot meal every day for a whole year.

Sanya’s ultimate goal is to raise enough money to feed a Haitian village of 700 people for one year — more than $50,000. Together, she and her team had successfully raised a total of more than $17,000 prior to the food packing event.
