Fire Calls

The Prior Lake Fire Department responded to the following fire and medical calls March 10-19:

March 10

Firefighters responded to:

A water rescue call on Cynthia Lake in Spring Lake Township at 2:45 p.m. A vehicle had gone through the ice. When firefighters arrived, the vehicle’s lone occupant had already gotten out. The car was partially submerged.

Another call for water rescue on Cynthia Lake at 5:49 p.m., which turned out to be the same call they had previously responded to. Fire Chief Doug Hartman suspects that the car’s sensors had reacted to the vehicle being submerged. The fire department was canceled en route by the Scott County Sheriff’s Department.

A two-car crash with minor injuries at 140th Street and McKenna Road at 10:21 p.m.

March 11

Firefighters responded to:

A vehicle on fire at Highway 13 and Fish Point Road at 8:02 a.m. The fire, which started in the wheel well due to a mechanical failure, was out upon firefighters’ arrival.

A fire alarm in the 5000 block of Starview Lane in Spring Lake Township at 11:07 a.m. It was a false alarm set off by a contractor.

A fire in cattails in the 1800 block of Spring Lake Circle in Spring Lake Township, on the south shore of Spring Lake, at 4:39 p.m. It was caused by someone burning wood and debris in a nearby fire pit. The fire was contained to about 2 acres, and firefighters were on the scene for an hour and a half.

March 12

Firefighters responded to a carbon monoxide alarm in the 3900 block of Kestrel street at 5:04 p.m. There were no ill effects; the false alarm was due to a bad detector.

March 13

Firefighters responded to a grass fire in a ditch in the 18700 block of Revere Way in Credit River Township. The cause is undetermined.

March 14

Firefighters responded to a two-story combination shed and boathouse on fire in the 2900 block of Spring Lake Road. It was caused by unattended burning in a fire pit that spread to the building.

March 15

Firefighters responded to:

A grill on fire on a deck in the 20600 block of Monterey Avenue in Credit River Township. at 6:24 p.m. The fire was out upon firefighters’ arrival. There was no damage to the home.

March 17

Firefighters responded to a crash at county roads 42 and 83 at 4:32 p.m. They were canceled en route by police on the scene.

March 18

Firefighters responded to:

A grass fire near the tennis courts at Lakefront Park, 5000 Kop Parkway. The cause is undetermined, but Chief Doug Hartman called it suspicious. The fire was contained to about a tenth of an acre.

A field on fire in the 200 block of Country Trail East in Spring Lake Township at 9:04 p.m. The fire was caused by piles of wood and debris being burned unattended. Firefighters advised the permit holder to attend the fire or put it out.

March 19

Firefighters responded to:

A grass fire at county roads 68 and 91 in Credit River Township at 12:44 p.m. The fire was caused by a fire pit nearby. The owner was advised.
