The Prior Lake girls lacrosse team had no problems winning its first two playoff games.
The top-seeded Lakers rolled to a 19-1 victory versus ninth-seeded St. Louis Park in the quarterfinals May 31 and followed with a 16-5 home victory over fourth-seeded Apple Valley June 4.
The No. 2-ranked Lakers (14-1 overall) will play for the title June 6 on their home field against the winner of second-seeded Bloomington Jefferson and third-seeded Edina. That game was halted by weather June 4 and had to continue June 5.
The Lakers lost to Apple Valley in the Section 6 final last year after earning three straight state berths the previous three seasons.
In the win over St. Louis Park, sophomore Payton Bloedow led Prior Lake with six goals, adding an assist. Senior Lauren Wick had three goals and four assists, while junior Josie Kropp scored three times and chipped in an assist.
Sophomore Jade Haugen and senior Ashtyn King each had two goals for the Lakers, while eighth-grader Rachel Ward and ninth-graders Josie Wilhelm and Jayne Bernick each scored once.
Haugen and junior Tayler Netzke both had an assist. Senior Grace Mattox made three saves in goal.
The Apple Valley game to delayed three times by severe weather. Prior Lake led 13-3 at the half.
Sophomore Mackenzie Salentre led Prior Lake with four goals, while Wick and Kropp each had three goals and two assists and senior Jacqueline Little scored three times.
Bloedow, Wilhelm, Haugen and Wilhelm all had one goal. Bloedow, Netzke and King each had an assist. Maddox made three saves in goal.
