The Prior Lake softball team earned a pair of one-run wins to stay alive in the Section 2AAAA tournament at Miller Park.

The fifth-seeded Lakers opened with a 3-1 loss to fourth-seeded Bloomington Jefferson May 23 and followed with wins over eighth-seeded Burnsville (4-3) and sixth-seeded Minnetonka (3-2) in two loser bracket games May 24.

The Lakers (13-10 overall) will take on third-seeded Eden Prairie May 28 at Miller Park at 4:30 p.m. The winner will get the loser of second-seeded Shakopee and Jefferson at 6:30 p.m. 

The winner of that game will make to the finals May 30 at 5 p.m., and will have to win back-to-back games to claim the crown.

In win over Minnetonka, senior Kate Broderick singled to lead off the top of the sixth with the Lakers down 2-1. She came around to tie the game on sophomore Grace Mahowald's sacrifice fly.

Senior Lexi Hanson followed with a two-out single and came around to score on junior Shreya Ashok's RBI hit.

Junior Reece Dahl got the win in relief, pitching 4 2/3 scoreless frames with five strikeouts. She didn't allow a hit. Ninth-grader Meg Schultz started for the Lakers and gave up two unearned runs in 2 1/3 innings with four strikeouts.

Hanson finished 2 for 3 with a double and two runs scored. Ashok was 2 for 4, while junior Meg Rasmussen doubled. 

In beating Burnsville, Prior Lake scored two runs in the first inning and took a 3-0 lead going into the bottom of the third. The Blaze tried to come back but could never plate the tying run in the final three innings.

Dahl earned the win, working five innings and allowing one unearned run, while fanning six. Sophomore Karlie Miller pitched two innings and gave up two runs, while fanning two.

Hanson led the offense, going 2 for 4 with a double and three RBIs. Ashok was 2 for 3 with two runs scored, while Mahowald also drove in a run. Ninth-grader Madalyn Lyons was 2 for 3, while Broderick was 1 for 3 with a run scored.

In the loss to Jefferson, it was a scoreless game three innings when rain halted play. The game started May 21 and had to be finished May 23.

The Lakers led 1-0 going into the bottom of the fourth before the Jaguars plated two runs to take the lead. Jefferson added another run in the fifth.

Dahl took the loss, working 3 1/3 innings and allowing two runs. Schultz pitched 2 2/3 innings, giving up one run.

Junior Sydney Mickett drove in the Lakers' run, finishing 2 for 3 with a triple. Junior Kelly Kero and Miller both had doubles.
