History crafts and camps at Scott County Libraries

The Scott County Historical Society will be bringing the fun of the past to Scott County libraries throughout the summer. Make a kite and other crafts to take home.

School might be out for the season, but the learning and fun will continue all summer long at the library with Scott County Historical Society. 

At the free I'm Game! History and Crafts programs, learn about what people did for fun in the past and today and why things changed. Make your own kite or hoop-and-stick game to take home. These programs are best for children aged 6 to 10 and their families. Funded by the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage (Legacy) Amendment.

The schedule is:

  • 10:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday, June 13, at Shakopee Library
  • Noon to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, June 15, at Prior Lake Library
  • 10:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday, June 20, at Jordan Library
  • 10:30-11 a.m. Tuesday, July 2, at New Prague Library
  • 2 to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, at Elko New Market Library
  • 10:30 to 11 a.m. Friday, July 12, at Savage Library and
  • 10:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 16, at Belle Plaine Library.

At the free Game On! History Mini-Camps, try your hand at some games of the past, then make some of your own. Compete to create the games of the future. Registration is required; register by calling your local library. The camps are best for kids ages 8 to 12. Funded by the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage (Legacy) Amendment.

Camps are 2 to 3 p.m. They will be held:

  • Tuesday, June 18, at New Prague Library
  • Thursday, June 20, at Belle Plaine Library
  • Tuesday, July 2, at Prior Lake Library
  • Friday, July 12, at Shakopee Library
  • Tuesday, July 16, at Jordan Library and
  • Wednesday, July 17, at Elko New Market Library.
