The author of last week's Community Voices column warned us of the dangers of socialism. The problem that I find in his logic is that the thriving economies of Scandinavia belie his claims. He'd have us believe that the failures of communism equates to an inherent flaw in socialism. The truth is that extremes in both capitalism and socialism serve a society poorly. Where Scandinavian countries have it right is their underlying democratic principles, guaranteeing that socialism run amok will be voted out of office.
