The Savage Fire Department responded to a fire early in the morning on Friday May 5.
According to a press release, the blaze was an outside fire at Road Machinery & Supply, 12520 Quentin Ave. Multiple construction lifts containing diesel fuel were involved.
When the fire department arrived with mutual aid from the Mdewakanton Fire Department, they were quickly able to control the fire, containing the damage to the area of origin.
With the quantity of diesel fuel involved with the incident, the Environmental Protection Agency was notified, along with the state fire marshal’s office. Newly-appointed Assistant Chief Fire Marshal John Burrow will be working with the fire marshal to determine the cause, Savage Fire Chief Jeremy Bresnahan said.
