With the Section 6 meet not far off — Feb. 7 at Buck Hill in Burnsville — which skiers will challenge for state spots for Burnsville-Shakopee?
The top two teams in both the boys and girls competitions make the state field from the section, along with the top 10 individuals not on the advancing squads.
Burnsville-Shakopee competed in a seven-team meet Jan. 19 at Buck Hill. Both teams ended up seventh with girls finishing with 64 points and the boys scoring 26.
Prior Lake won the girls title (283 points), followed by Apple Valley-Rosemount (243), Eagan (236), Lakeville South (193), Lakeville North (174) and Eastview (170)
On the boys side, Lakeville North won (366.5), followed by Prior Lake (337), Apple Valley-Rosemount (328.5), Lakeville South (300.5), Eastview (258.5) and Eagan (177.5).
The Burnsville-Shakopee girls had just three skiers in the varsity race. Senior Hailey Peterson had the best finishing, taking 18th with a combined time of 63.44 on her two runs.
Junior Reyna Wick ended up 28th (71.21), while junior Amanda Currie was 57th.
For the Burnsville-Shakopee boys, four skiers competed — senior Alex Christian (44th, 65.57), junior Aban Hasan (63rd), ninth-grader Cash Achenbach (65th) and senior Bruen Drum (68th).
This year’s state race will be Feb. 14 at its annual site, Giants Ridge in Biwabik.
