Nine SouthWest Metro Intermediate District students attended the 52nd annual Minnesota State SkillsUSA Championships Conference on April 12–14.

The four first place winners of Chanhassen High School, Shakopee High School, and SouthWest Metro High School will advance to the National Competition this summer in Louisville, Kentucky, on June 24-28.

SkillsUSA is a national organization that serves over a quarter million student members annually and helps them become world-class workers and responsible American citizens.

Each spring, approximately 350 business and industry leaders prepare and present skill and leadership contests to student members from across the state. These are entry-level, hands-on skill contests, which are evaluated by the same individuals that prepare them and are passed on industry-driven occupational skill standards.
