International Festival

Ibrahim Abdi, 6, punches through a board at the International Festival put on by the Shakopee Diversity Alliance at Huber Park in 2016.

The Shakopee Diversity Alliance announced that the seventh annual Shakopee International Festival will return on Aug. 2 at Huber Park.

According to a press release, the festival will feature fresh entertainment and attractions, including brand new foods such as Halal gyros – all while still free.

A community-based organization, the Shakopee Diversity Alliance is comprised of volunteers who share diverse ethnic backgrounds and faiths. All funding for SDA events is collected from fundraising, donations and sponsorships from local businesses and the community.

The Shakopee Diversity Alliance is currently searching for support from the community to make the festival possible. Community members are asked to contact the SDA if they:

  • Would like to volunteer: (and get a free T-shirt).
  • Would like to have a booth sharing cultural information or selling items appropriate for the International Festival audience.
  • Would like to donate funds to the International Festival.
