Sophomore Tharun Inturi hits a backhand during the state tennis tournament.

Shakopee's doubles team of Alex Kortgard and Tharun Inturi were eliminated from the Class 2A state tournament early Friday morning.

Kortgard and Inturi opened the tournament with a straight set loss on Thursday morning but rebounded to stay in the tournament with a straight set win later Thursday afternoon.

They returned to the Baseline Center on the campus of the University of Minnesota on Friday morning and was eliminated 1-6, 4-6 by Blake's Benjamin Peterson and Christopher Hall.

To get to that match on Friday, Kortgard and Inturi defeated Elk River's Joseph O'Connor and Isaac Hultberg 6-3, 6-3.
