Shakopee eighth-grader Pierson Manville won both the freestyle and greco-roman titles at the USAW Kids National Championships.

Shakopee wrestler Pierson Manville won two USA Wrestling championships this past weekend.

Manville won both freestyle and greco-roman championships at the 2019 USAW Kids National Championships on June 29 at Wisconsin Dells. Manville captured the 14U, 119-pound freestyle title with a dominating 10-0 technical fall against Michigan’s Joseph Blaze in the championship match.

He reached the finals with a pin fall at 1:24 against Oregon’s J‘Sean in the first round. He followed that up with a tech fall against Collin Carrigan of Illinois in the quarterfinals and 11-0 tech fall against Wisconsin’s Zane Licht in the semifinals.

Manville won the 14U, 119-pound greco-roman title with a 9-0 decision against Licht in the championship match.

To reach the finals, Manville won by tech fall over Wisconsin’s Jackson Klimek in the first round. He followed that up with a 12-1 tech fall against Ohio’s Hunter Martin in the quarterfinals and a 23-second pin against Massachusett’s Alexander Gavronsky in the semifinals.
