Adventure Camp

A group of Shakopee kids attends 2018 Adventure Camp Day.

Shakopee Parks and Recreation wants to create a simple way for parents to get their kids moving this summer that doesn’t include building obstacle courses out of house furniture. So it’s offering an obstacle course camp.

The new Ninja Warrior Camp will be Aug. 5-8, and participants ages 6 to 8 can test skills and abilities while going though various obstacles. This four-day camp offers different courses and obstacles each day.

The department will also launch day camps for children between the ages of 6 and 12, which will include Land and Sea Camp June 24-27, Nature Play Camp July 22-25 and Trail Days Camp Aug. 12-15. According to the news release, these four-day camps include activities, crafts and games.

Other summer camps, which vary in length and age range, include a one-day safety camp, Adventure Day Camp, Wildlife Explorers, RC Racing Adventures — where children can learn how to drive and race remote-controlled cars — and drone races.

More information on summer activities can be found in the spring/summer 2019 Parks and Recreation Activities brochure. Registration online is open now.
